How long does a tankless water heater last?

Commonly 15 to 20 years with annual descaling, which is meaningfully longer than the 8 to 12 years a storage tank typically gives you. Skipping the descaling is the fastest way to fall short of that, because scale buildup is what wears out the heat exchanger.

Do I need a bigger gas line for a tankless water heater?
