Installation Considerations

A Rinnai install is more involved than swapping a tank. The gas line often needs to be sized up to feed the burner's peak demand, the venting has to be correct for a condensing or non-condensing unit, and a condensing model needs a condensate drain. In Western NC, fuel type matters too - much of Asheville has natural gas, but many outlying homes are on propane, which changes the sizing. On well water or harder water, we recommend a sediment filter or water softener and periodic descaling to keep the heat exchanger clear. What is the difference between condensing and non-condensing Rinnai units?
